AH-235 Yitzenhak by MrJumpManV4 AH-235 Yitzenhak by MrJumpManV4
First off, i am very please with how the render came out. Secondly, i am aware there is no use for tail rotors in a dual rotor helicopter.

Thanks to:

Anyways about the model...
The Yitzenhak is an Russian attack helicopter equipped with 8 total bofors missile pods located on either wings. The dual rotor system gives it incredible maneuverability and speed. Below the cockpit there is a 30mm cannon with unique cooling systems to allow for a more rapid fire along with a second barrel.

Made mostly in Sketchup 8 rendered with twilight renderer
Rotor blades made in photoshop, thanks to canonfodder for the suggestion of making a new better one.

ok one thing, the bullets need a cover otherwise they can fall out at the speed of that chopper.

sweet looking! if you are going to put tail rotors on it, make'em be pusher props, like the Sikorsky Raider X2.

yea, that may have turned out better, i didnt really like how the ones i have now turned out. they're redundant too because the main purpose of having two main rotors is not having a tail rotor.

Very cool design and great that anyone juses the flettner-rotor.
I minded it would sound bigmouthy when i say something about the tail rotors:lol:

er...I think you typically only mix two things, it gets awkward around three...

And yea it does look like them, the Hind and Osprey were intentional but not the Comanche parts.

The rear tail rotors remind me of the comanche...

Pity the Comanche was abandoned in 2003 =/ beautiful machine

i used photoshop for the blade textures and twilight renderer for the...render...I learned some new tricks with the rendering so that's one reason it looks so nice.

Actually, with a dual-rotor helicopter, the tail rotor would be best used for yaw control since the rotors would need to mesh together continuously and at constant equal speed. It also looks like you went with a variable fulcrum design that allows the rotor shafts to slide forward and back to control pitch.

MrJumpManV4 Featured By Owner Mar 16, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I did make a mechanism to allow the rotors to pitch, surprised some one caught that because it's difficult to see.

Yea i didn't think of that, since most dual rotor helicopters change the speed and use torque for rotating the helicopter it makes a tail rotor useless. however this helicopter's primary rotors have to keep in synchrony, and they cant change speed allowing it to turn. Another problem is the angle of the two main rotors are different so it may add some unwanted roll even if asynchrony for turning were possible on this type of helicopter.

Forgive me for basically restating what you said =p

S'alright. I modeled something like this a few years ago and used much of the same design elements. [link] Except, my design is a lot more primitive and unnecessarily extreme, while being poorly thought-out.

i think it came out amazingly! altough it kinda looks like the right rotor will create a new trench when landing xD

and with this tail rotor system it'll greatly improve the turning speed, so it does have some use =P

it might be a cool idea to add a mountainous backdrop, so it looks like its hunting some unlucky basterds =D

I added a new backdrop to it, and yea i guess the rotors do help a bit. I looked at the model and made sure that there was no problems the heli would face during landing and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. However it may appear that way since the image is tilted.

nice backdrop =P

and i guess the angle of the pan and the lack of reference made it look like it would crash its rotors, but from this angle it doesnt even give that idea =D

Yea, quite ironic that all i had to do to fix the angle was "mess up" the whole camera angle =p

and thank google images for the backdrop :p
